12. LETTER FROM TODD (2013)

When my mother passed away I immediately began to receive letters and phone calls asking if my family planned to sell the building. I got a hand scrawled letter from an “investor” stuffed into the front gate. Random calls and solicitation by hungry real estate investors are the norm now. Here is a note from Todd who later sent a Christmas card that same year.  During my walks around Bedford Stuyvesant I learned that many older residents are solicited by men who come to the front door with cold hard cash – the most I’ve heard offered is $350,000 to sell their home.
